Giancarl Johnson is the principal owner of Bankanese, LLC. He brings more than 20 years of experience in banking and consulting, with a broad background spanning business relationship management, business development, commercial lending, underwriting, credit analysis, and external loan auditing.
He has underwritten and approved hundreds of millions of dollars in consumer, commercial, and government-guaranteed loans, including emergency Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) lending to support small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. His experience also includes identifying significant financial irregularities in financial statements. One of these bank clients was subsequently investigated and prosecuted in a billion dollar Ponzi scheme.
Giancarl has taught college courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels including selecting text books and designing curriculums. He has also designed a course tailored for bank board members covering financial theory and bank practices designed to teach the tools to properly oversee bank executive management lending decisions. He has trained underwriters in cash flow analysis for a Fortune 100 company.

M.S. Accounting
Graduate level study in accounting principles, financial reporting, and audit methodology. Coursework included financial accounting, audit, tax, and managerial accounting.
M.A. Economics
Advanced study in economics including first year PhD coursework. Additional undergraduate coursework included law and economics, behavioral economics, and transaction cost economics under Nobel Prize winning Prof. Oliver Williamson.
MBA
Graduate level business coursework with a focus on finance, strategy, and leadership.
20+ Years Banking Experience
Roles spanning relationship management, business development, underwriting, consulting, and external loan auditing across commercial and consumer banking.
